Our Father’s Project

Built in 2013  ·  Visit website

Our Father’s Project is a non-profit that provides mentoring and discipleship for teens in urban Columbus. After I had joined the newly-formed board of directors, I started working on a website to help increase support from donors and volunteers.

Choosing the audience of the website was the most important thing. I decided that the website had a few jobs:

  • Speak to prospective donors, partners, and volunteers primarily. The website is not for the teens or their families, but for the organization to gain more volunteers and financial support.
  • Establish credibility and trustworthiness through clean, professional-looking design.
  • Tell the story visually through the use of crisp, clear, authentic photos (not stock photos).
  • Encourage newsletter signups.
  • Make it ridiculously easy to donate.

This was my first ever responsive website design. I made quite a few mistakes in the first version of the site, so I rebuilt the HTML and CSS mobile-first in 2016.

I have also been managing email and print newsletters sent monthly to partners. This monthly touch has helped contribute to a 600% increase in yearly revenue for the organization over the past 4 years.
