World’s Best Dad Day

It was time for my non-profit to host its first annual fundraiser. The problem was that we only had a vague idea of what we wanted to do (Father’s Day, Huntington Park), and it needed to be planned from scratch.
I stepped up and named the event, conceptualized the branding, created a story tying the event to the organization’s mission, coordinated logo design with a volunteer graphic designer, wrote copy, designed and coded a 1-page microsite, and created a small Rails application for collecting payments and registrations.
The inaugural event raised $4,300 total, most of which went into the organization’s general fund for ministry.
